The New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex JJJJound Black Storm is the result of a collaboration between New Balance and Canadian creative direction studio JJJJound, released in February 2024. The project revolves around a concept of "balance": marrying robust construction with a waterproof Gore-Tex membrane, without sacrificing visual restraint.
The all-black upper plays with the interplay between mesh, suede and leather reinforcements, creating subtle textural depth. The JJJJound logo appears in plain text on the tongue, without embellishment. The New Balance 2002R adopts a monochromatic Black Storm palette that amplifies the legibility of each constructive detail.
