The Nike Empire: Revolutionary Origins to Global Dominance
When Philip Knight and Bill Bowerman founded Blue Ribbon Sports in 1964, then Nike in 1971, they laid the foundations for what would become the most influential sneakers brand in the world. This Nike story begins in Oregon, where these two running enthusiasts imagined high-performance and accessible shoes. The name Nike, inspired by the Greek goddess of victory, perfectly sums up the brand's ambition: propelling every athlete towards excellence.
Technical innovation has been Nike's DNA since its inception. The legendary Moon Shoe of 1972, the brand's first official creation, already showcased this revolutionary sole developed by Bowerman using a kitchen waffle iron. This development method laid the groundwork for the future Waffle Racer, a model that revolutionized running and established Nike as a technical reference.
The Founding Models That Made Sneaker History
The Cortez marked a decisive turning point in sneaker history. The first Nike running shoe to showcase Bill Bowerman's genius, it perfectly embodied the brand's philosophy: combining performance with style. This iconic model has transcended decades without aging, proving that great ideas defy time.
The arrival of the Air Max in the 1980s revolutionized the industry once again. Tinker Hatfield, inspired by the architecture of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, imagined a shoe where the Nike Air unit became visible. This innovation marked the beginning of an era where technology became as important as aesthetics. Today, models like the Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble Neon or the Air Max 1 87 Photon Dust perpetuate this tradition of technical excellence.
The Skateboard Revolution with Nike SB
In the early 2000s, Nike took a new leap by tackling skateboard culture. The creation of Nike SB transformed the original Dunk into a streetwear icon. Without diluting the model's DNA, Nike completely reinvented the SB Dunk Low Pro to meet skaters' demands. This respectful yet innovative approach immediately won over the underground scene.
Collaborations like the SB Dunk Low Supreme 94 demonstrate Nike's ability to transcend traditional sports codes. These drops become cultural events, creating hype that extends far beyond skateboarding to touch the entire streetwear culture.
The Era of Prestigious Collaborations
Nike masters the art of collaboration like no other brand. Each partnership tells a unique story, blending Nike's technical expertise with the creative vision of artists, designers, or fashion brands. The Nike Moon SP Jacquemus Off Noir perfectly illustrates this approach: Jacquemus brings its French minimalist aesthetic to Nike's futuristic silhouette.
These collaborations create unique pieces that go beyond mere shoes to become collector's items. The Air Max 95 SP Corteiz Aegean Storm or the Air Max 1 87 Stranger Things Steve Harrington testify to this ability to bridge seemingly opposite universes.
Technological Innovation in Service of Performance
Nike has never stopped innovating technologically. Models like the Air Zoom Alphafly Next 3 push the boundaries of running performance, while the Air Foamposite One Carbon Fiber explores new materials to offer unprecedented sensations.
This quest for innovation is also found in more lifestyle silhouettes like the Vomero 5 Triple Black or the P 6000, which bring cutting-edge technologies into urban designs suited for everyday wear.
Nike Today: Between Heritage and Modernity
Nike's strength lies in its ability to honour its heritage while embracing modernity. Retro models like various Air Jordan releases sit alongside futuristic creations, offering a complete range that appeals to all generations.
This diversity is reflected in our selection at Geturbrick. From innovative slides like the Mind 001 Slide Black Chrome to performance basketball models like the Kobe 6 Protro Reverse Grinch, each pair tells part of the Nike story.

Nike, Much More Than a Sneaker Brand
Nike's influence extends far beyond sports. The brand has shaped urban culture, inspired generations of artists, and created a universally recognised visual language. The swoosh created by Carolyn Davidson for $35 in 1971 has become one of the world's most recognisable logos.
This cultural influence materialises in every release, every collaboration, every innovation. Nike doesn't just make shoes: the brand creates symbols, objects of desire that transcend their primary function to become cultural markers.
Whether you're passionate about women's sneakers or men's sneakers, a fan of technical models or lifestyle pieces, Nike offers an infinite palette of possibilities. Each model in our collection testifies to this richness, allowing everyone to find the pair that matches their personality and aspirations.
