The New Balance 550 Vintage Teal continues the legacy of a silhouette whose history traces back to the basketball court. Originally designed by designer Steven Smith as an alternative to the 650, the 550 shared the formal codes of the 480 before disappearing from the radar for decades. New Balance relaunched it with a new generation of colorways, including this "Reflection/Vintage Teal/Dawn Glow" with soothing and retro hues.
The colorway plays on a subtle contrast between a cream white base and aged teal green accents, warmed by pale pink touches on the finishes. The smooth leather and structured mesh upper revives the court aesthetic of the 90s, featuring the large "N" badge on the side and a thick low-profile sole. This colorway joins the 550 green range, in a softer and more desaturated version.
The New Balance 550 remains one of the most representative silhouettes of the vintage basketball revival initiated by the Boston-based brand in the 2020s.
